This Nikon 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 G ED AF-S Nikkor VR is a great autofocus, "do everything" kind of zoom lens for Nikon FX DSLR and film SLR cameras. This handy zoom offers a very wide 24mm focal length as its starting point while zooming up to a nice moderate 85mm telephoto that is handy for portraits or isolating midrange details in landscape or cityscape shots. The flexible zoom range makes the 24-85 a solid travel lens or just as a great standalone kit lens when you don't want to carry additional lenses. In addition this lens is a great optical performer as it incorporates both ED glass and aspherical lens elements. While it is known for having a fair bit of barrel distortion, it delivers excellent sharpness and does a great job of controlling falloff and color fringing. This lens has a 72mm filter thread.
This lens employs Nikon's VR (vibration reduction) which significantly lowers how slow of shutter speeds can be handheld while maintaining sharpness and avoiding camera shake.
Because this is a Nikon G series lens, it lacks a manual aperture ring and can only be used on Nikon film cameras that are capable of controlling aperture electronically through the body of the camera.
